A Twittered induction-turned-cesarean. A cesarean for a baby who is just "too big" - at 7 lbs. 12 oz.
One more story to add another little nudge to our culture's perceptions that babies are too big, that all c-sections are necessary, that induction has nothing to do with it.

Yeah, I had someone remark to me the other day something about an eight pound baby being "big". I was incredulous. That is so within normal range it is not even close to big.
People have some really twisted ideas about birth.
Yes, I hear more and more than 8 lbs. is big. Which means 6 lbs. is no longer small? It is bizarre. But I think it is tied in to this common refrain I hear from doctors - which I think is meant to be comforting? - that whatever size baby it was, it was "too big" and that's why the c-section happened (not the epidural, positioning, etc. etc.)
